Semiotics Preliminary Exercise
Charles Peirce's Theory of Semiotics
Peirce's Theory has a critical point which is that the meaning of a sign is created by the interpretation it stimulates in those using it. It also uses interpretations in which to strengthen his claims that semiosis is a process. Pierce's thought process was very different as for him, the relationship between the object of a sign and the sign that represents it is one of determination.
